Quick & Easy Pretzel Bites Recipe

As the weather gets a little cooler I start getting in the mood to bake. One of my favorite snacks to make for my kids are pretzel bites. They love them too and gobble them up so fast! Pretzel bites are the perfect finger food snack to serve after school or even during the big game this weekend.

These pretzel bites don't require any time waiting for the dough to rise and proof because they are made using pre-made refrigerated biscuit dough - you know the kind that comes in a tube at the grocery store.

My kids love to help me make these pretzel bites too. We have a little assembly line system so that everyone gets to help and has a specific job. It is always a fun time in the kitchen when we make pretzel bites.

In our house we eat our pretzel bites dipped in warm homemade cheese sauce. (Make sure to check out the cheese sauce recipe I love at the end of this post!) This is optional of course but highly recommended! Lightly salted pretzel bites fresh from the oven dipped in warm gooey cheese sauce are heavenly.

Are you drooling yet? Good, because it is time to start baking up a batch of these pretzel bites.

Quick & Easy Pretzel Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

1 Tube Pillsbury Grands biscuits (8 count)*
1/4 cup baking soda
1 large egg, beaten
3 Tbsp water

* do not use crescent rolls as they do not work well in this recipe

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Bring a large pot filled halfway up with cold water to a boil on your stovetop.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray the baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.

2. Remove the biscuits from the packaging then slice each biscuit into fourths. You should have 32 small pieces of dough. Roll each piece of dough into a ball.

3. Add the baking soda to the boiling water and stir. Carefully drop 4 - 5 balls of dough into the boiling water. After 5-8 seconds quickly remove the dough balls from the pot with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.

4. Make an egg wash by whisking together the egg with 3 Tbsp of water. Brush the tops of each pretzel bite with the egg wash. Sprinkle the coarse salt over the pretzel bites.

5. Bake the pretzel bites in the oven for 15 - 18 minutes. After baking immediately transfer the pretzel bites from the baking sheet to a platter and serve immediately.

Store any leftover pretzel bites in a sealed container for up to 3 days. To reheat any leftover pretzel bites put them on a plate and pop them into the microwave for 15-20 seconds before enjoying.

Pretzel Bites For Adults

These little bites don't have to be just "kids" food either! I think these little pretzel bites would be a great addition to a casual charcuterie board along with a variety of cheeses, fruits, and nuts. Pretzel bites could also be served as an appetizer with a cheese fondue too. The possibilities are endless.

Dipping Sauce Ideas

A little bit healthier option to dip these pretzel bites into instead of cheese sauce would be mustard. My kids aren't big fans yet of mustard but I just love dipping a soft pretzel like these pretzel bites into a good quality gourmet mustard. I'm drooling now just thinking about this delicious treat.

Simple Cheese Sauce Recipe

2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 c. cheddar cheese
salt & pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

In a medium size pot over medium-high heat melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and let cook for one minute.

Slowly stir in the milk bringing the mixture to a simmer. As the milk mixture begins to thicken start adding the cheese whisking continuously until the cheese sauce becomes smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Really no matter if you serve these pretzel bites with cheese sauce, mustard or just plain they taste amazing! I hope you enjoy them as much as my family does.

Hey Mama, if you have a bunch of single unmatched socks piling up in the laundry room in hopes that the match will be found it's time to let reality sink in - that missing sock is gone FOREVER! Those missing socks can drive a mom crazy but as much as we hold out hoping the long-lost pair will be reunited it is time to find a new use for those single socks. This is the perfect project to solve this problem!

Everyone loves stuffed animals especially cute little stuffed bunnies! These would be fun to make for a birthday party activity, youth group craft for teens, or as an easy Easter craft.

With a few simple supplies you probably already have on hand you can easily make your own stuffed bunny. Follow this step-by-step tutorial to make an adorable little stuffed bunny today.

No-Sew Sock Bunny Stuffed Animal

Gather up the following supplies to get started:

Supplies

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Fill your crew sock 3/4 full with fiberfill stuffing.

2. Cut two pieces of yarn each approximately 6-8 inches long. Tie one strand just above the stop on the stock where the stuffing ends.

Tie the second piece of yarn around just above the center of the stuffed sock to create the bunny's body and head.

3. The material above the top tied piece of yarn will become the bunny's ears. Cut the top portion of the sock off leaving about 2-3 inches of sock material above the yarn.

4. Next cut a slit down the middle of the sock material to create two separate ears. Trim the inside edges of both sides, tapering the shape to create the bunny's ears.

5. Use Sharpie markers to draw the bunny's eyes and an "X" for the bunny's nose and mouth.

That's all there is to it! Congratulations you just made a cute little stuffed bunny. Now it's time to introduce him/her to the rest of your stuffed animals.

How To Make An Awesome Rock & Wire Picture Holder

A garden rock and wire photo holder is a wonderful DIY project kids of all ages (and adults) will enjoy making! These cool photo holders are the perfect way to display your favorite family pics or give as gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, and birthdays.

These super easy wire picture holders can be customized to fit your style by painting the rocks, adding beads to the wire holder, or even using colorful wire. Also, this project is easily adaptable so all ages of kids can make them too.

We made a bunch of these wire picture holders for my oldest's graduation party. I found some small cute cards with various Bible verses on them that we inserted into the wire picture holders and used as centerpieces on all of the tables. We encouraged guests to take one home too! I have a few extra left over from the party so I've been scattering them around the house to display Scripture verses in high-traffic areas where I'm sure they will be read often!

Awesome Group Project Idea

If you need the perfect group craft project this is it! Whether it be for summer camp, youth group, or even a craft to do at your child's birthday party everyone will love this take-home craft. You can encourage kids to go on a rock hunt before making it into a picture display or you can provide rocks for them to use.

Sometimes it is hard to find a DIY project that teens will enjoy making. I know my teens loved making these easy wire picture holders especially since it gives them the perfect way to display a few of their favorite pics which they can change out whenever they want.

For more great nature-inspired crafts make sure to check out this post I wrote for The Find.

Ideas to Customize A Rock & Wire Picture Holder

The best rocks to use for this project are flat stones. One way to customize this project is to use a variety of different-sized flat stones either all of the same color like white stones or a variety of different types of rocks.

Painting the rocks with colorful designs like swirls, stripes or even shapes like stars and rainbows is also a fun way to make this project reflect your creative side. If you plan on giving several wire picture holders as a Christmas gift you could paint the rocks in holiday-themed colors!

Did you know craft wire comes in a variety of colors? I think these rock & wire picture holders would look great if you took two or three different colored wires, twisted them together, and then make your picture holder with them.

Garden Rock & Wire Picture Holder Craft For Kids

Supplies Needed:

  • Medium-sized flat stone or rock (approximately 2" x 2")
  • Craft or floral wire
  • Wire cutter or pliers (like this one here)
  • Pencil
  • Acrylic paint & brushes (optional)
  • Beads (optional)
  • Photos or small inspirational cards (like this) to display
  • Water-based spray sealer (I use this)

Directions For Garden Rock & Wire Picture Holder

1. Clean your rocks or stones by scrubbing them with soap and water then let the rocks dry completely.

2. If you plan on painting your rocks make sure to cover the surface of your table with newspaper or a plastic drop cloth. After painting the rocks let the paint dry completely then spray a water-based sealant over the rock and let it dry.

*tip - if you are using dark rocks you may want to paint the rocks white so that it is easier to see the design and colors your child adds to their rocks.

If you choose not to paint your rock go ahead and get started with the next step.

3. It is time to add the wire to your rocks. Wire comes in a variety of different gauges and most wires will work great however if you are adding beads to the wire make sure the beads fit onto the wire.

(This step in the project might be challenging for younger children and it might be best if you or another adult completes this step.)

Depending on the size of your rock you will need to adjust the length of the wire as you start this step. Take the end of the wire and put it on the top of the rock adding about 2 inches of extra wire length. Wrap the wire underneath the rock bringing it back up to the top of the rock until the two sides of the wire meet in the center of the rock. If your wire is very thin you may have to wrap the wire around the rock a few times. Twist the wires together with your fingers until they fit snugly around the rock then use pliers to finish twisting the wire so it doesn't slip off of the rock.

4. From the top of the rock stretch out the wire so you have approximately 7 to 8 inches of wire sticking up from the rock. Cut the wire at this measurement.

5. If you are adding beads to the wire string them on one at a time leaving about 3 inches of bare wire at the top.

6. To make the loop at the top of the picture holder take the end of the wire and wrap it around a pencil or marker three or four times. Slip a photo or a small card into the loop to display it.

Now your kids can enjoy displaying special photos, cards, or inspirational messages in their new garden rock & wire picture holders.
